Most companies have focused on reducing paper use, changing to environmentally friendly lighting and heating and cooling in ways that make the facility more energy efficient. But has your company also thought about ways that your landscape can make the exterior of your facility more sustainable?
Here are some ways that E.A. Quinn’s experts can help make your business’s landscape more sustainable:
- Redirect the rain water runoff from your building and parking areas to rain gardens.
- Consider switching over to native plants in the landscape beds around your building. They tend to be hardier and are more adaptable to our climate.
- As part of your lawn maintenance program, include the use of slow release fertilizers, which reduce nitrate run off into ground off because they require fewer applications.
- Use mulching mowers to cut your lawn areas. Mulching mowers help reduce the waste left behind by conventional mowers. Mulching mowers turn the clippings back around into the lawn area to decompose and thus creating less waste.
