January 2008

A Few Notes From Our Staff

Matt Bagshaw, our Property Maintenance Supervisor wants you to know we provide the following:

1.  Spring Clean ups – clean up the winter debris
i.e.; sand, leaves, twigs, small branches and
what have you on your lawns and beds.

2.  Lawn Mowing

3.  Pruning – Season and Plant specific

4.  Weeding

5.  Edging of driveways and sidewalks to give a
     cleaner line to your lawn.

6.  Edging your planting beds

7.  Plant annuals

8.  Fall Seeding

9.  Fall Cleanups – generally we do two cleanups
to ensure the majority of leaves are off your
     lawns and planting beds.

Matt is also in charge of our Fertilization Program, which starts in the early spring and can go straight through late fall.

The Fertilization Program provides pre-emergent crabgrass control and pro-emergent broadleaf weed control, and insect control (grubs, army worms and chinch bugs).

All maintenance and fertilization contracts are self-renewing.  If you have any questions or concerns don’t hesitate to call.

For those of you who haven’t heard it before here’s a small bit about Matt.

Matt graduated from UCONN with a degree in Turf grass Sciences and then interned with a nationwide company.  This has always been Matt’s life ambition as illustrated in the 1988 Kindergarten Yellow Book from Eastbury School.   Matt stays current with all the current industry information available.
NEXT MONTH: OUR PAVER DIVISION!

ED WANTS YOU TO KNOW!

CHEAP INSURANCE!  ANTI-DESICCANTS

IT IS ALREADY PRETTY APPARENT THAT WITH THE DRY SUMMER AND THE ALREADY BELOW SEASON TEMPS AND WINDS – in the spring you will very definitely see windburn causing dead limbs or entire dead plantings.  Anti-desiccants can help to prevent windburn and further dehydration.  Yews, Arborvitae, Hemlock, White Pine, Rhododendrons, are especially susceptible.    Anti Desiccant spray is a thin layer of an organic “sealant” to help the plants resist the drying power of winter winds and conserve the moisture vital to their good health, would be applied in late November and early December and is made to break down in the warmer months in order for the plant to flourish.  Call Matt at ext. 23 to get a price for the trees or shrubs you want to protect.

Notes From The Editor

Brr!  Were not the first couple of weeks in December cold!  Hope all your holidays were fun, satisfying and relaxing.

Here at E. A. Quinn during the darkest coldest months of the year when we aren’t out plowing or shoveling etc, we are brainstorming on how to  and what to do for all our customers.

maintenance
We examine what you the customer may need, as we did last year looking into a more environmentally friendly fertilizer program.

We will continue to do our newsletter on line this winter. Any contributions or questions you’d like answered in the newsletter just let me know. Send me your email address and I will automatically send it to you.

So what we are doing this month is a recap of the Lawn Maintenance services we provide already, but before that...
