Thank you once again, for your generous donations to “Holiday for Children”. We hope you enjoyed the greens, poinsettias, and knowing you’ve helped a child enjoy the holiday season.

This season Eight Families (36 people) will have a better holiday and it was all because of you.  With the way, some of the orders came in we had additional monies that Laura Quinn felt we could do a ‘Gift of Sharing’.  Each of the eight families will have an opportunity to pay it forward.  The person who assigns our families has promised that we will hear from each family on how they shared their ‘Gift of Sharing’.  We will share them with you in the coming months. For those of you who missed our thanks last month – this is for you.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROUSITY

Notes From The Editor
Hope all your holidays were fun, satisfying and relaxing.  Watching the news whenever there is a storm forecast is for me extremely annoying.  We as New Englander’s know we need to be more cautious, not travel if it is not necessary – the newscasters always make it out to be Armageddon on the way.
Glossary of Terms: How we define WINTER!
Let’s Recap once again!
Winter Storm Warning:  Usually issued 6-24 hours before combination of heavy snow, heavy freezing rain, or heavy sleet is expected.
Winter Storm Watch:  Usually issued 12 to 36 hours before the beginning of a winter storm.
Sleet: Rain drops that freeze into ice pellets before reaching the ground.  Sleet usually bounces when hitting a surface and does not stick to objects, but can accumulate and be hazardous.
Freezing Rain:  Rain that freezes on contact with surfaces (roads, walks, cars, etc.) with temperatures below freezing.  Then forming an accumulated glaze of ice and posing hazards to pedestrians and motorists.
Snow Event:  Precipitation that falls from the same pressure system-may involve a break between periods of snow, sometimes for many hours.
Wind Chill Factor:  The temperature of windless air that would have the same effect on exposed human skin as a given combination of wind speed and air temperature.
Blizzard Warning:  Issued for sustained or gusty winds of 35 MPH or more, and falling or blowing snow-limiting visibilities to ¼ mile or less when these conditions will persist for at least three hours.

Here at E. A. Quinn during the darkest coldest months of the year when we are not out plowing or shoveling etc, we are brainstorming on how to and what to do for all of our customers.

We examine what you the customer may need, as we did last year looking into a more environmentally friendly fertilizer program, which I might add has been very successful.

We will continue to do our newsletter on line this winter. Any contributions or questions you’d like answered in the newsletter just let me know. Send me your email address and I will automatically send our newsletter to you.
