Notes From The Editor
Well what a winter so far, snow, ice, sleet and freezing rain, rain, record cold temperatures and high winds. The good news is that the days are getting longer and the way time is flying, spring should be here soon.

So, what we are doing this month is a recap of the Brick/Paver Division services we provide.

From Our Staff
Steve Virgadaula, our Brick Division Supervisor is a very energetic, intense, detail orientated person. The array of pavers, wall block, colors and textures are amazing. Now is the time to call for a free estimate. We are starting to set up our installation schedules.  Remember, the barbeque outdoor entertainment season will be here before you know it and your patio with its built in grill or fire pit will be the gathering place for the neighborhood.

Steve continues to attend classes and seminars to stay current with all the changes and improvements in the industry.  He is a member of the National Concrete Masonry Association and the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute.

Paver Info
Besides the added value and visual appeal to your property, it takes a relatively short time to accomplish a ‘green’ low maintenance, weather resistant wall, walk or driveway.  Colors, shapes and patterns even integrating lighting make it easy to customize the job to compliment the existing landscape and your home.

The increased use of interlocking concrete pavers is creating definite improvements in the design of driveways, patios, walkways and walls.  All of them go beyond the standard broom-finished, bland concrete that will turn gray and crack that needs to be sealed every 4 to 5 years or asphalt that absorbs heat all day, cracks and needs to be sealed every 2 to 3 years.

Pavers overall offer the lowest life-cycle costs in comparison to other paving products such as asphalt, poured concrete, and stamped concrete.  Pavers are easily maintained by regular sweeping and occasional rinsing.  Tough stains can be pressure-washed with appropriate cleaning solutions or simply spot cleaned with a brush, cleaning solution and water.

Pavers, if needed, can be removed if there is an issue under them that needs to be taken care of and then restored to their original state without looking at an ugly patch on asphalt or cracks that need to be filled in concrete.

For us in the northeast pavers resist the deterioration of freezing and thawing cycles and de-icing salts better then asphalt and poured in place concrete. The beveled or chamfered edges of pavers prevent plows, shovels and snow blowers from catching on the edges. They are almost indestructible – interlocking pavers are a flexible system and allow for movement.

Come check out the new paver displays in front of our offices. Check out our website and see some of the jobs that Steve and his crew have done around town and around the state.
