The Spirit of Spring

Remember Daylight Saving Time is this month, Daylight saving time will begin on the second Sunday in March (March 8).  So get ready to Spring Ahead!

March 17th is Saint Patrick’s Day - In Ireland on St. Patrick’s Day, people traditionally wear a small bunch of shamrocks on their jackets or caps. Children wear orange, white and green badges, and women and girls wear green ribbons in their hair.

Facts about Clovers: According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the highest number of leaves found on a clover is 14!
One estimate suggests that there are about      10,000 regular three-leaf clovers for every lucky four-leaf clover. Legend says that each leaf of the clover means something: the first is for hope, the second for faith, the third for love and the fourth for luck.

Ed Quinn of Irish descent will also be celebrating his birthday on the 17th sure and begorrah!

Notes From The Editor
Well February was a hoot – spring like days and then snow squalls that left up to eight inches of snow in Middlebury toward the end of the month, I still love living here in New England.  Did you visit us at the 28th Annual Connecticut Flower & Garden Show?  We raffled off a Garmin GPS and in general really enjoyed meeting people and sharing what we can do for them.  StayCation this year is the buzz – ScapeStone fire pits could fit the bill call Steve at extension 24, we have ideas on how to make the most of your yard this year.

Have you attended the Annual Hebron Maple Festival?  In last March’s newsletter I recommended going – did you?  Well if not you can try again this year on March 14 and 15th Tapping trees, pancake breakfasts. These are just a few of the many things going on during the festival for more information and times go to www.hebronmaplefest.com

From Our Staff
Matt Bagshaw, our Accounts Manager and Mike Stone (aka Stoney) our Property Maintenance Supervisor want you to know the following:

Fertilization and proper lawn care are key, for not only curb appeal and resale value and just plain fun. A healthy, well-maintained lawn provides many environmental benefits, including:

Oxygen production – A 50’ x 50’ lawn produces enough oxygen for a family of four.
Cooling effect – Eight healthy front lawns have the cooling effect of 70 tons of air conditioning – enough for 16 average homes.
Pollution control – Grass converts carbon dioxide to oxygen, a process that helps clear the air.
Water quality – Dense, healthy grass slows water runoff, removing contaminants and trapping soil.  Fresh, filtered water returns to the underground water supply.

Call Matt @ 633-0115 ext. 23 – A.S.A.P.  To get the full benefit of a lawn care program starting in the spring.

See you in the funny papers!
In West Kerry, the wife commented, "When we were first married, you took the small piece of steak and gave me the larger. You don't love me anymore...."

"Nonsense, darling," replied the husband,
"you cook better now."
