Notes From The Editor
Wow, I am sure you all saw the snow last month in some areas in town it covered lawns.  In 1979, we actually got 1.7 inches of the white stuff.  I have been told that as you grow older that time seems to get shorter. Well I am a believer, it seems only a moment ago it was spring and here we go snow already.

Last month we sent a Customer Survey checklist, we are pleased to report that a
great many of you have responded, and the
winner of the Visa gift Card is:

Beth Mills of Glastonbury

My contests challenging who could find the error in September’s online newsletter in order of the first three emails received the winners are:

Mr. Kurt Troidle,
Mr. & Mrs. Strough
Mr. & Mrs. Pepe

I hope that you enjoyed your rewards.

From Our Staff
Matt and the gang are already out taking care of your fall cleanups
– call soon to get on the list.

Karen would like a few words with you all –

I would like to take this time to remind you that with winter just around the corner, you might want to think about two services that we can offer. First, if you have broadleaf evergreens, such as rhododendrons, you may want to consider an Go to fullsize imageanti-desiccant treatment. It is an inexpensive application that will help to prevent your plants from damage from the wind and cold temperatures.

Secondly, if you have yummy plants, such as arborvitae, you may think about having us apply deer repellents to protect them this winter from being devoured. Call Matt Bagshaw or Karen for a consultation.

Plant Care & Winter Preparation!

Groundcovers and perennials – these plants have shallow roots and the typical freezing and thawing pattern of winter causes heaving which may damage the roots.  This occurs even more frequently in beds next to concrete and brick surfaces.

Protect your investment around Thanksgiving after several good frosts. Lay an insulating cover of evergreen boughs or hay over your beds.  This covering keeps the ground consistently frozen.

Bulbs – Spring’s Harbinger

Call us to provide and plant now before we get any hard frosts. This will give you more time in the spring to decide what annuals you might want to install later in the season.  You just know Spring is here when the crocuses, tulips, hyacinths and other spring bulbs start to show up.
The Holidays are upon us.
November 11 November 26

We at E.A.Quinn Landscape Contracting want to give thanks for your loyal patronage over the years.

Holiday Gifts for Kids

The order sheets for Christmas wreaths, garland and poinsettias are included this month. All of the proceeds from this project will go to Covenant for Care. This non-profit organization tries to meet the needs of children within the DCF system.

Our hope is this year we will be able to provide necessary items for nineteen children or more, which thanks to your generosity with the purchase of wreaths, garland and poinsettias we can make this happen.

We would really like to make enough to buy as many wish list gifts as possible for these kids. Please take a minute and see if you could possibly help in this endeavor.

Order forms are due by November 20.
Expect deliveries between November 30 and December 4.
